$760,000 in Flood Recovery Grants Awarded by One SC Fund

COLUMBIA, S.C. - March 29, 2016 - PRLog -- The One SC Fund, a fundraising effort that helps South Carolinians who are recovering from unprecedented flooding continue the rebuilding process, today announced Phase II grants for nonprofit organizations across the state. Nonprofit organizations can apply for Phase II grants until Friday, April 1st at 6:00 PM at www.onescfund.org.

Governor Nikki Haley - with the help of Central Carolina Community Foundation and a team of South Carolinians from entertainment, business and public service - announced the One SC Fund in November, 2015 after flooding touched South Carolinians from every walk of life.

Nonprofits are set to receive $760,000 in Phase II grants and will provide volunteer labor and an additional $4.2 million in financial support for these projects, which range from mold remediation to complete home rebuilds.

The following 18 nonprofit organizations will receive Phase II grants from the One SC Fund:

 St. Bernard Project: AmeriCorps Service Grant

 Hearts and Hands: mold remediation statewide

 Hopewell Senior Center: mold remediation in Williamsburg and Georgetown Counties

 St. Vincent de Paul: mold remediation in Berkeley and Dorchester Counties

 World Disaster Response Services: general rebuild in Williamsburg, Sumter, Berkeley, and Colleton Counties

 Metanoia: roofing homes in Berkeley and Dorchester Counties

 Central Habitat for Humanity: general rebuild in Richland and Sumter Counties

 Mennonite Disaster Service: general rebuild support and materials in Andrews, Horry Sumter and Clarendon Counties

 Operation Home: general rebuild in Charleston County

 SC Baptist Convention: general rebuild in Darlington, Horry, Williamsburg Counties

 Brethren Ministries: general rebuild Richland County

 Sumter United Ministries: general rebuild in Sumter County

 Habitat for Humanity Georgetown: general rebuild in Georgetown County

 All Hands Volunteers: general rebuild in Georgetown County

 Georgetown Outreach Ministries: general rebuild support in Georgetown County

 United Way of Sumter, Lee and Clarendon: household furnishings in Sumter County

 Catholic Charities of the Diocese: House in a Box Richland County

 SC DVP: House in a Box in Richland County

"We have neighbors and families who are still in need as we continue to rebuild a stronger South Carolina, and we are grateful for the continued generosity and kindness of so many across the state and country," said Gov. Nikki Haley.

The nonprofit grant recipients were selected by a grants committee made up of representatives from four Community Foundations representing the 24 FEMA-designated emergency counties, as well as business and civic leaders. These individuals know their communities well and helped distribute the funds to areas where the dollars will have the greatest impact.

How Nonprofits Can Apply for Grants from the One SC Fund

Phase III grants will fund relief and recovery assistance programs provided by nonprofit organizations in the 24 FEMA-designated emergency counties.

 Nonprofit organizations can apply for Phase III grants until Friday, April 1st at 6:00 PM.

 Nonprofit organizations (or those with a 501c3 fiscal agent) that are helping individuals return to their homes may request up to $25,000.

 Individuals may not apply.
