Follow on Google News | National TV Comes to Carlisle in AprilPilot Program for Discovery's Velocity Channel Filming at Spring Carlisle
By: Carlisle Events TV cameras return to central Pennsylvania and Spring Carlisle and this time around, the event will receive its greatest exposure to date as part of a pilot program with the working title of "Swap Meet." The show will air this summer on Velocity and will star and be hosted by automotive expert and builder Bryan Fuller. Fuller is a master builder, designer, TV personality and author of how-to-build books through his own publishing company. He's no stranger to Velocity either, currently serving as host on Naked Speed. Swap Meet has a focus on just that; the swap meet of Spring Carlisle. There are 8,100 vending spaces at the Carlisle Fairgrounds and more than 6,500 of them are utilized for dedicated swap meet transactions. That's thousands of vendors and millions of parts, all spread over 82 acres. As filming progresses, Fuller will highlight many of the hidden gems within the swap meet as well as showcase exactly how one can complete a build by simply scouring the swap area for select pieces and parts. In fact, a build will be front and center as part of filming. Fuller will play puppet master to a pair of teams tasked with building a motorized machine that will ultimately do a tire burnout at the end of it all. "We were originally looking at west coast events so we could begin production early in the season, but it quickly became apparent that Spring Carlisle would be worth the wait," said Ed Coughlin, Executive Producer of Chet Burks Productions (the company behind Swappers). "It's not only the sheer size of the swap at Carlisle that lends itself to shooting, but the vastness of riches that the central Pennsylvania region offers when it comes to automotive antiques. Combine that with a willing and able partner in the Carlisle Events team and it was a no-brainer." Tapings commence on day one of Spring Carlisle, April 20; and should run through Saturday of event weekend. Complete details about the event as well as information on the show can be found via the Spring Carlisle portion of www.CarlisleEvents.com. End
