Follow on Google News | Controversial new novel opens debate on pollution effectsEarth: The Future is History, the debut novel for an unknown European author, gets published in December 2014, making waves in just a few short months.
By: MarketingOnion Without any background in writing, the author decided to try increasing awareness not by putting together yet another report on pollution and corruption (the two are intertwined) "A sci-fi story rooted in reality" as he calls it, that would be both enjoyable to read and educational, that would open the reader's eyes to a probable future. His story is set a few hundred years in the future (before you turn away from this article, the storytelling is deeply related to the present day - it's not about flying cars, but rather about how our choices today might have a long-lasting impact on the future) and presents a deeply broken world - both environmental and social. By continuing on the path of ignorance, he proposes, we'll not only damage our world and our health, but our very nature as well - that which makes us "human". By being faced with increasingly difficult choices, we slowly and unknowingly start losing our humanity - an unexpected consequence fuelled by decades of incrementally progressive hardship. I'll let him explain in his own words what he's trying to achieve, but know that you can get a free copy of his entry into the series here: https://www.free- "A dark and deeply corrupt Earth, all but destroyed by millennia of human ignorance, is already on borrowed time. Having exhausted all other possibilities, our final chance for survival lies with an extreme solution. We have the technology, we've gathered the resources, the path to survival is clear... but things are never that simple. Two opposing factions are locked in a bloody war, their moral values constantly clashing to the detriment of the entire human population. Time is running out and both parties are employing increasingly desperate tactics in their struggle for power. This is s a story about how our decisions today will affect the lives of our grandchildren tomorrow. A story about us. Humans. Mankind. About our way of life. About our ignorance today and how a defective mindset will affect the future of our culture. A story about pollution and war, about corruption and selfishness. It's my hope that by telling a compelling story about the future, I can make you think more carefully about today's problems." End
