Addressing on the theme of the symposium, Hon'ble Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said: "The two colonial countries Ghana & India have long attachment since the days of Mahatma Gandhi and initiation of his freedom movement on the soil of Africa. It is always understood that all countries should have stronger bilateral relationship to take the world ahead. Though lot has been done, much has yet to be achieved on these lines. Here, we have gathered to talk about present scenario and to share the future growth that exists with the friendship of these two countries. As Ghana is playing important role in development of continent of Africa, so is India playing pivotal role in bringing harmony and peace all around the sub-continent and the world as a whole." Hon'ble Arthur also shared: "India as a nation has always been sympathetic to dreams and aspirations of African peoples and shown its willingness to participate in all of its struggles against colonialism, apartheid, poverty and disease. Now we have to lay common emphasis, on agricultural sector, trade, industry and investment, peace and security, promotion of good governance and civil society, information and communication technology. I have ministers of different departments along with me who will study related departments in India to be in consonance. In fact, India and the African countries are devising new parameters for an enhanced and enlarged relationship appropriate to their new role in a changing world. Besides the consultative process and the spirit of friendship, sharing knowledge and experience is another aspect that makes many African countries relate to India."
