SAN FRANCISCO - March 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Wearable IoT World is pleased to announce Current, powered by GE will join the IoT for Cities Hackathon as the grand prize sponsor at Internet of Things World on May 11-12 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. More information can be found at the IoT for Cities Hackathon site.

The Hackathon will utilize GE's Predix platform, GE's cloud platform for the Industrial Internet, and APIs with data from software-defined, intelligent LED fixtures from Current. In addition to building solutions for Intelligent Cities, such as smart parking, pedestrian and traffic planning, and public safety, the Hackathon will also solicit solutions for connected buildings to enable commercial and industrial customers to reduce power consumption, generate power onsite, and drive new revenue streams through the use of sensors and networked systems.

"The next era of Intelligent Cities starts by digitizing the physical city and empowering individuals, innovators, and entrepreneurs to change the way they live, work and play using data," says John Gordon, Chief Digital Officer, Current, powered by GE. "We're looking forward to partnering with the developer community to leverage insights from intelligent lighting and bring to life new ideas that unleash a whole new world of potential."
