Follow on Google News | ![]() HealthRight Awarded Grants to Kick-off Four New ProjectsHealthRight's Human Rights Clinic (HRC) was awarded a grant by the Harman Family Foundation. This grant will be used to initiate a unique program supporting UMCs in the New York metro area. HealthRight will be recruiting and training medical and mental health providers, specializing in pediatric and child development, to provide child-friendly and trauma-informed forensic evaluation for UMCs who have fled torture, abuse and neglect in their home countries, in support of their immigration applications. The MAC AIDS Fund awarded HealthRight a grant to implement pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent HIV infections in uninfected MSW in Kenya. This MSW-focused demonstration project will be among the first of its kind. In partnership with New York University's School of Medicine, HealthRight has been awarded a two-year violence prevention grant for vulnerable children in Nepal, by the UBS Optimus Foundation. This grant will be used to implement a research project focusing on engaging school teachers and parents in violence prevention and mental health promotion among vulnerable children from high-risk communities. Finally, Dr. Peter Navario, Executive Director of HealthRight, has been awarded a research grant by the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research (CDUHR).
