UPES wins the prize of Best Android App at Michigan State University, USA
UPES is declared the best android app developer by the Michigan State University, US. The event was SpartaHack that invited participants for its official annual hackathon.
Both Shubham and Rosy are studying B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Oil and Gas Informatics. They have worked together to win the title of the best android app and managed to get prize money of 400 dollars for their project named Intellivision which was showcased at SpartaHack 2016. SpartaHack 2016 is the name of the official hackathon of Michigan State University, US.
The four-member team that worked upon the project included two UPES students and two other scholars from Illinois University and DePauw University, US. Out of the rest of the participants, the UPES team was considered most apt for the award as they applied their best possible skills to come up with their project, Intellivision. Project Intellivision is basically a live augmented reality figure that tags an android application with the help of a Myo band and Google Glass.
The Innovative App
The whole strategy involved creating a Google Glass (smart eyewear in actuality) application as well as an android app. The above mentioned application fulfilled the need of being able to look at the surroundings through the smart eyewear called Google Glass along with live tags. The gadget has an additional feature of being made hands free with the support of a Myo band.
A Design Challenge with Global Appeal
If we talk about year 2016 alone, then almost 500 aspirants were solely selected to go to the premier educational institutions. Universities like the University of Illinois, University of Purdue, US and the Waterloo University of Canada invite participants for the hackathon every year. Equivalent to the major league hackathons, this one became a three-day affair where participants had to undergo brainstorming sessions to come up with ideas. Thereafter, they worked on building the design of the prototype by developing upon their idea in only 36 hours.

The winner, UPES was founded in the year 2003 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It was established with an aim of imparting industry-oriented education to the aspirants in selective courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The degree areas generally cover infrastructure, energy, information technology, transportation, planning and architecture, public policy, design and legal studies.
