On display, will be the flag that flew over the G.P.O. in 1916 and the original 1916 Proclamation from Ireland's National Famine Museum. The first New York St Patrick's parade stepped off Lower Broadway on March 17th 1762, fourteen years before the Declaration of Independence was adopted. Over two hundred and fifty years later, the Parade is considered the largest parade in the world, with two hundred thousand marchers, and more than two million spectators lining Fifth Avenue to watch the annual pilgrimage up Fifth Avenue. The television broadcast of the parade connects over 1.5 million household viewers with this extraordinary tradition, and the web-streaming of the parade, which began in 2008, expands the impact of the parade worldwide. Tune in on St. Patrick's Day on NBC. End
