Louisiana Lithographer to Exhibit at GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi Beatles Symposium

CLEVELAND, Miss. - March 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Enoch Doyle Jeter hosts the longest-running John Lennon Birthday Party in America, an event twice recognized by Yoko Ono. But that's not his only connection to The Beatles.  Three years ago, he was invited by John Lennon expert, Jude Southerland Kessler, to illustrate a chapter in Volume 3 of The John Lennon Series, She Loves You.

"She asked me to depict each song on With the Beatles, conveying a sense of what the song speaks to the listener, to me," Jeter explains. "I was to capture, in art, the essence of each song on that second Beatles LP." And he spent two years doing just that.

The 14 unique lithographs that emerged from that experience have been celebrated all over America. They were first fêted in a one-man show at the Penn State Altoona "International Beatles Conference" in 2014 and then at the 2014 "Coming to America 50^th Anniversary" Fest for Beatles Fans in New York City. In September 2014, the collection was honored at the Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College, Shreveport, LA. And now, Jeter is headed for the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi's Beatles Symposium, April 1-2 to display his creations and talk with visitors.

"I'm also very honored to have the work that I did for Dr. Kit O'Toole's book, Songs We Were Singing, is being featured as the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi's poster for the Beatles Symposium," Jeter smiles. "Kit invited me to portray the journey of The Beatles across the expanse of their career, and I have them crossing Abbey Road…with a few symbolic turns and twists that one might not expect."

Doyle Jeter is the unexpected, and his art confirms that. Born in Jena, Louisiana; reared in New York City and Pennsylvania; educated at Northeast Louisiana University with a masters' in art from Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico; and deeply connected to his roots in Ireland, Jeter is a complex personality. He feels most at home in New Mexico, but each year he travels to Ireland to reconnect with his past. As the former owner of Enoch's Irish Pub in Monroe, LA, (his son, John, owns it these days) his Celtic roots run deep. And since three of the four Beatles were Irish, that shared heritage has helped Jeter tell their story via lithography.

Jeter teaches lithography at the University of Louisiana, Monroe, where he also holds the coveted title of "Artist in Residence." But his great love, for the last 40 years, has been encouraging and promoting Southern Music via Enoch's Irish Pub. In 2015, Jeter won the respected award as "Louisiana's Foremost Music Promoter." Jeter has certainly been instrumental in supporting the distinguished careers of Doug Duffey, and Kenny Bill Stinson (whose band, "The Lonely Peppers" will close the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi Beatles Symposium).

"Music, literature, and art walk hand-in-hand," Jeter explains. "If you love one, you love them all. They are different facets of the same coin."
