Follow on Google News | Patient Friendly Move By Food And Drugs Administration MaharashtraBy: Atma Vallabh Medical and Educational Trust( Found FDA has not only issued notice but also begun implementing the notification. Hospitals will be asked to display the regulation on the signboards of hospital pharmacies. Mohan Kekatpure, joint commissioner FDA (Drugs) Nagpur division said FDA has taken this issue very seriously and is following it up with Hospital pharmacies. This move is for trying to safeguard the interest of the patient by asking all hospitals to issue a proper prescription for all medicines, disposables etc used on the patients as per the rules. "Generally hospitals do not even give prescriptions to patients. They first use the available medicines and disposables from hospital and then ask for replacements by writing the list on a plain paper instead of the hospital's letter head or prescription pad. FDA has begun the drive from government hospitals like Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC) where the patient was never issued a prescription. Now every patient, OPD or admitted, will be given proper prescription.
