Diggers and Discussion Bring Housebuilding to Life for School Children in Yorkshire

March 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Children from Killinghall Primary School near Harrogate saw their classroom projects come to life with a visit to a new homes development being constructed next to their school.

Miller Homes is building its Chene Hall development on land adjacent to the school and welcomed the children to site to see how new homes are built.  They also received a visit from one of the housebuilder's senior directors to answer questions posed by the older children on the finer details of housebuilding.

"It was a delight to have the children visit our site and help them with their relevant projects - diggers and machinery for Reception children and construction and planning for Year 5 and 6," said Jan Hanaby area sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. "It is a real pleasure to work with the schools in the communities where we are building and to play a part in their education, bringing careers to the classroom and industry to life."

The children visited site on two separate occasions and were able to ask questions of Miller Homes Yorkshire's longest serving employee, Simon Ryan, site manager at Chene Hall development.

"Our warmest thanks go to Simon, Jan and the team for allowing our children to visit their site and for conducting the visits in such a safe and professional manner," commented Sarah Bassitt headteacher Killinghall Primary School. "Some interesting questions were asked of Howard (the Miller Homes Director of Land and Planning) and he patiently answered explaining clearly, so that the children were able to glean the very most from his talk."

The children, who asked questions relating to their school topic, included how long does it take to build a house, how do you name the houses and the streets and what is the funniest job on site

Jan concluded, "We have formed a strong partnership with Killinghall Primary School having also conducted a Health and Safety talk to the entire school just a few weeks ago. We shall look forward to working with them and supporting them in the future whilst we are neighbours."

Chene Hall will open its doors during April 2016. The development will comprise of 78, three, four and five bedroom homes and will bring more new homes to the area in addition to the 120 properties that the housebuilder has already constructed in the district.
