DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - March 24, 2016 - PRLog -- The Harry Anna Trust Gala of Hope will present Dr. Pamela Carbiener with the 2016 Humanitarian of the Year recognition on April 23rd in Daytona Beach.

"We couldn't be more thrilled with our honoree this year," said Edward K. Jackson, Vice President of the Harry Anna Trust. "Dr. Carbiener has given of her time, talents and treasures since starting her career in Volusia County over 25 years ago and we are looking forward to recognizing her generosity," he added.

The gala is the premier fundraising event for the Florida Elks Youth Camp, Florida Elks Children Therapy Services, Army of Hope, and Hope Scholarships, all helping families of the military deployed.

The event will be held on April 23rd, 2016 at 5:30pm at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, located at 100 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach. The theme of the event will be 'Havana Nights' with dinner and dancing and live entertainment by "Miami Stars". About Dr. Pamela Carbiener

Dr. Carbiener received her medical degree from the University of South Dakota, followed by a residency at Georgetown. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1992, where she joined Halifax Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates, founded by Dr. Schwenker and Stavoy and now celebrating its 25th year of serving women. She became active in the OBGYN and medical community, joining the VCMS early on and writing regularly for the Stethoscope.  She became the VCMS president in 2003 and remains the editor of the magazine for over ten years.  She chaired the OBGYN departments at both Ormond Memorial and Halifax Hospital, eventually serving as Chief of Staff at Halifax, and Chairman of Credentials Committee. She briefly served as Treasurer of Halifax Health, and served on the Board of Directors for the hospital from 2007 to 2011.

Dr. Carbiener engaged in community issues early in her career. She co-founded COPE (Community Outreach to Prevent Eating Disorders). She has worked with organizations providing support for victims of assault in the past and is involved in recreating these services at this time. She serves on the board of Healthy Start and the Substance Exposed Newborn task force. She is a director for the Bert Fish Foundation. She has chaired The Daytona Women's Center, now the Center for Women and Men, and served as director for the American Heart Ball in 2013.  She currently works serves on the board of the Daytona Blues Festival, creating a three-day music event from which all proceeds are directed to issues of women and children's health.

A focus of Dr. Carbiener's has been maintaining and increasing access to prenatal care for all women in Volusia County. She has worked with various task forces to identify lapses in prenatal care and prepare for changes in insurance and Medicaid that impact access in the coming months. She has been caring for high risk women at the VCHD weekly for two years. She is currently working with Women's Care Now to expand the services of Halifax Health to all women, including those needing prenatal care.

She has received multiple honors and awards over the years.  These include The United Way's Volunteer of the Year Award for her practice in 2010 for providing prenatal care access in Flagler County and most recently was presented with a community leadership award from SMA Behavioral Healthcare.

Dr. Carbiener has worked as the OBGYN clerkship director for the FSU College of Medicine Regional Campus, which has been training medical students since 2007.

In addition to obstetrics, Dr. Carbiener is well versed in hormone replacement therapy, wellness and maintenance of life quality after the menopause and is comfortable with traditional and alternative treatments for after menopause well being.

She is experienced in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures, performing the majority of gynecologic procedures with minimally invasive techniques. She is also experienced in pelvic support and urinary incontinence procedures.
