Ambitious young clothing brand hoping to represent some of 770,000 disabled children across the U

Young UK brand Gecko Clothing are running a brand representative search eager to represent the diversity and beauty of all children. Actively seeking a wide mix of children; to include those with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and more.

COLWYN BAY, U.K. - March 11, 2016 - PRLog -- Gecko Clothing are a young, family run brand, eagerly growing their colourful, ethical and eco-friendly range of unisex children's wear. The company was founded by husband and wife team, Ryan and Emma, and is based at their home in North of Wales. Successful Brand representatives would receive an item from each new design released by Gecko, in exchange for images of them exploring their world in their Gecko attire, for us to share on social media.

Sadly, many children are unrepresented by the media, who still find it controversial or even taboo to feature photographs of children who do not fit the 'social norm' in their publications. With 770,000 registered disabled children across the UK this is a significant under representation. Gecko are keen to break down this archaic viewpoint and show the beauty present in all children.

With the growing number of agencies looking to represent more diversity in the media such as Models of Diversity, hopeful that a real change is afoot rather than what many perceive as scattered token gestures. "The media exists to serve us all. Marketing wants to appeal to everyone. So these industries must see that their best interest lies in representing and reaching out to everyone and appealing to the actual diversity that exists. Why would they want to do less?" - Angel Sinclair, Models of Diversity

Australian model Madeline Stuart, who has Down syndrome, has been challenging society's perceptions of people living with a disability. The model's return to New York Fashion Week this month was perhaps more of a breakthrough than her first visit as it heralds a real change in the representation of beauty, proving that her first appearance last year was indeed a step forward.

"Every child is unique and that's something we're delighted to celebrate. To truly reflect the diversity of the world we live in. The industry is making steps in the right direction thanks to inspirations like Madeline Stuart. However there is far to go for this diversity to become the 'norm'." - Emma Davidson Co-founder of Gecko Clothing

The Brand representative campaign will run from 14th March to 31st and all hopeful entrants must have an Instagram account. Full information on how to enter their search can be found on their website or Instagram account @Gecko_Clothing
