Follow on Google News | Dedication & Open House Of Mobile Shower Unit Will Provide Showers And Hope For The Homeless In SonRedwood Gospel Mission's Mobile Shower Unit aims to reach homeless who are not currently receiving services.
There are over 4,000 homeless men, women and children in Sonoma County. Shelters, including ours, are often filled to capacity. During the winter of 2014, Redwood Gospel Mission introduced the Entertaining Angels: Nomadic Shelter Ministry to provide extra beds. We had 30 churches hosting homeless men, women and children for one evening a month from November to March. In the Fall of 2015, Redwood Gospel Mission shared a vision of a Mobile Ministry, including expanding our Nomadic Shelter Ministry to run for 6 months. In addition to providing additional beds for the homeless, Mobile Ministry includes Search & Rescue efforts and a 2 unit Mobile Shower. Luke 14:23 says, "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." In all neighborhoods of our county, unsheltered individuals and families are living by the creeks, sleeping in bushes, or in other uninhabitable environments. The Search and Rescue team will be going to these environments to "compel them to come in." The Mobile Shower Ministry would allow showers to take place anywhere. By these efforts, we will be able to begin to identify and serve those who are not currently receiving services from shelters or other agencies. Beginning a conversation is the first step in providing a glimmer of hope. Individuals must first be found to start that conversation. We are very excited to begin the next phase of the Mobile Ministry. Redwood Gospel Mission is happy to share that our 2-unit Mobile Shower has arrived. We are inviting the community to join us at our Men's Ministries, 101 6th St., on March 15th at 12-2pm for an open house and dedication of the Mobile Showers. A few of the ways the community can become involved: Attend the Dedication and Open House Giving financially: Collect hygiene items, socks, new coats or other needed items. Volunteer: www.srmission.org/ Pray: For those who will are living in the highways and the hedges.
