![]() Ambience in Alpha's New Album Teaches Us to ChillLivins has made his name in Chicago by working with prominent gospel, R&B, pop and rap artists. Early on, he gained acclaim for his production work on re-mixes for John Legend, Korn, Amerie and Omarion. Later he began focusing on his engineering skills, which led him to mix and master for the likes of Snoop Dog, Keyshia Cole, Day 26 and Dietrick Haddon. He achieved RIAA Platinum status for his work with Sisqo, RIAA Gold for his work with Joe, and a Grammy nomination for a track he did with Syleena Johnson. A serious car accident in the early 2000's threatened to end his career. Debilitated by chronic back pain, he was unable to sit for more than fifteen minutes at a time. Desperate for a solution, he turned to doctors and physical therapists that prescribed varying exercises to ease the pain. Nothing offered relief until he discovered yoga. It was this practice, along with meditation, that nursed him back to health and back to work. Inspired by what he learned and the insight he gained, he began composing his own music again to help himself meditate. After years of study of yoga, Tai Chi and Dan Mudo, Livins developed this specific sound to inspire a deeper state of relaxation. "The alpha state is the state your brain goes into just between being fully awake and completely asleep. This is considered the deepest state of relaxation. I wanted to create music that would lead the listener effortlessly into this state and into a higher awareness,' says Livins. Livins has been crafting one track at a time over the years when time permitted. With eighteen tracks complete he decided to release an album for like-minded individuals in need of some inspiration. The intent is to create the ideal atmosphere for yoga, meditation and deep relaxation.
