Arc/k Project was founded by Brian Pope in late 2014 and is dedicated to digitally archiving that which is too valuable to be lost and is in danger of destruction. The Arc/k Project houses a digital Ark, a library of the collected infinitely valuable treasures of the ages - spanning time, geography and civilizations.

Arc/k Project will showcase to SRFF 2016 visitors both AR and VR experiences that are set in the context of recently preserved cultural assets.

Augmented Reality (AR) utilizes a computer hardware portal, such as a digital tablet, a software application and a visual target image to create a supplemented contextual reality in real time for the user.

The visual targets can be different images or motifs for each context in which supplemental imagery or information is desired. As the user navigates the space with a pre-loaded tablet, each target encountered initiates the presentation of different types of information. For example, a person holding a digital tablet loaded with an AR application could point the tablet's camera at an Augmented Reality target and examine a three-dimensional object or location with completely realistic shadows and details.

Wearing a Virtual Reality (VR) headset combined with a controller and menus within the VR application, the user is immersed in a virtual environment, navigating and exploring three-dimensional representations of buildings, environments and integrated content without constraint.

The experience creates an emotional thrill unlike anyother, and enables a virtual visit to difficault to access places for both mobile persons and those with limited mobility, increasing the range of applications beyond the ordinary visual experience to an educational virtual reality one.

A must if you have never experienced it before!
