VILNIUS, Lithuania - March 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Skimming attacks have increased rapidly over the past few years. 7,722 skimming incidents were reported for 2011 in Europe alone - and resulted in cash losses totaling €232 million. According to European ATM Security Team early 2012 survey, skimming makes 58 per cent of all frauds. Furthermore, the negative press on successful skimming attacks is increasingly undermining bank customers' confidence in the security of their card data - and even in their banks.

There are different anti-skimming solutions. First, the mechanical plastic anti-skimming tool can be mounted in the card reader slot in order to prevent tampering through skimming mechanisms, but at the same time, does not restrict ATM usage. In addition, there are anti-skimming modules equipped with special sensors that put the device out of service as soon as the card reader slot is damaged or ATM is tampered. The module that monitors the entire card slot environment for illegally mounted intrusion mechanisms, is installed in the ATM and is able to detect or disturb both analog and digital skimming attacks. If a skimming attack occurs, the ATM can be put out of service immediately, and additional security measures, e.g., video surveillance, activated.
