This year marks the seventh year of partnership between Cincy Chic and the Stephen Morsch Nursing Scholarship. Steve Smith and his family founded the scholarship 10 years ago after the passing of his grandson, Stephen, in 2006.

“Stephen was born with an unknown condition that caused him to labor in the NICU at Good Samaritan Hospital for eight days and one hour. However, we witnessed the kindness, care, and compassion of the nursing staff [throughout] those eight days,” Smith says, adding that their compassion inspired their family to create something positive out of the situation. “We wanted to remember Stephen by giving back to the nursing profession, so we created an endowment and funded a yearly scholarship to nurses at The Good Samaritan School of Nursing. We feel that this endowment proves that all lives – no matter how short – can add value to society.”
