By: M. Sliwa Public Relations Friday, March 4th was the 7th anniversary of the ICC issuing the first of two arrest warrants for President Omar al-Bashir. To commemorate this historic event, a rally by hundreds of Sudanese was held in New York City, near the United Nations. This anniversary arrives while the Sudan government-led violence against ethnic - black African civilians has been increasing and worsening. The delivery of essential humanitarian aid to them is prevented on an ongoing basis as part of the strategy of genocide: 1. Camps for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugees are attacked and/or dismantled, leaving residents defenseless and homeless 2. Massive attacks have increased in the Jebel Marra area of Darfur since January 15, 2016 3. Villages are burned in El Geneina, the capital of Western Darfur State 4. Crimes against humanity are rampant in the Blue Nile, the Nuba Mountains, and in South Kordofan 5. Dams are built in Sudan in specific locations designed to eliminate Nubian cultural sites and drive people from their land. The organizations that sponsored the rally and the letter to United Nations Security Council are as follows: Access Coalition Deborah Martin, Director Tennessee Act for Sudan Eric Cohen, co-founder American Anti-Slavery Group Dr. Charles Jacobs, co-founder Boston, MA Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy Daowd Salih, Co-founder and Board President New Jersey Darfur Action Group of South Carolina Dr. Richard Sribnick, Chairman Columbia, SC Darfur and Beyond Cory Williams Phoenix, AZ Darfur Interfaith Network DC Area Martha Boshnick Washington, DC Darfur Tear Fund Juma Sefedin Shaibu, CEO/President Nashville, TN Darfur Women Action Group Washington, DC Human Rights and Advocacy Network for Democracy (HAND) Investors Against Genocide Boston, MA Jews Against Genocide Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur Boston, MA Never Again Coalition Lauren Fortgang and Diane Koosed, co-chairs Portland, OR NY Coalition for Sudan San Francisco Bay Area Darfur Coalition Martina Knee San Francisco, CA Save Darfur Coalition of Pittsburgh David Rosenberg Stop Genocide Now Redondo Beach, CA Sudan Advocacy Action Forum Dr. Eleanor Wright, Moderator Birmingham, AL Sudan Unlimited Esther Sprague San Francisco, CA United Sudanese and South Sudanese Communities Association and Help Nuba Rabbi David Kaufman World Peace and Reconciliation (WP&R) Adeeb Yousif And more...
