WESTON-SUPER-MARE, U.K. - March 6, 2016 - PRLog -- ----- BEGINS -----

theFretBoard guitar forum are pleased to announce that this weekend saw the launch of an exciting tour that turns convention upon its head and sees a single guitar tour the country, to be played by as many guitarists as possible, and all to raise awareness of the work Shelter and other homeless charities in the UK.

Prompted by the experiences of one of the members in the run-up to Christmas 2015, the team at theFretBoard decided to do something positive to raise the awareness of the excellent work undertaken by Shelter and similar charities working with the homeless aacross the UK.

TTony, one of the admin team at theFretBoard said;

“We wanted to do something a little different, and as most tours see musicians take their instruments with them, we thought we’d send a special one-off “homeless” guitar around the country inviting as many guitarists as possible to play it in different venues.

With the help of the organisers of The Guitar Show, we were able to start this with a great many guitarists including Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy, 21 Guns, Black Star Riders) and Aziz Ibrahim (Stone Roses, Asia, Simply Red, Ian Brown Band) getting to play the guitar. We can’t thank Jason Hunt from the organisers enough for helping get everything set-up for us”

The tour could take up to a year to be completed as the plan is to allow every guitarist that takes part to raise awareness of Shelter’s work in his/her own area, either through playing a gig or other work featuring the “homeless” guitar.  Whilst there are plans to involve a number of famous players, the focus is very much on grassroots activity.

TTony added;

“It isn’t just the famous names that are important though. theFretBoard is an amazing community of mainly UK-based guitar players, and the plan is to move the guitar around the country like a giant pass-the-parcel, with each guitarist handing it to the next. We want players of all ages and circumstances to be part of something really special”

One of the driving forces behind the Gimme Shelter Tour is Tour Manager, Alnico, who agrees;

“The work Shelter do isn’t just about getting people off the streets, it is much more than that, as it is often the unseen number of people that they manage to keep in their own homes in desperate circumstances, that don’t get included in the statistics. Touring this guitar is a way for a lot of us to give something back and let people who may be feeling desperate know that there really is help out there for them.”
