By: Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, Tippecanoe County Commissioner David Byers and Lafayette City Council President Ron Campbell joined representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Lafayette Commerce to celebrate the official opening of the facility. An expanded air permit allows the increased production of vehicles, which will add 1,200 jobs to SIA this year. “The recent growth and tremendous momentum we continue to see from SIA is inspiring,” said Roswarski. “The paint shop expansion and SIA’s announcement just a few months prior to hire more than 1,200 Associates speaks to the remarkable strength and stability this industry adds to our community. We thank SIA for their continuing commitment and investment and we are thrilled to help celebrate this next milestone in Subaru’s Lafayette legacy.” The new paint shop will allow SIA to increase vehicle production by nearly 100,000 units annually. The expansion also includes additions to SIA’s engine and stamping facilities. “This expansion is the result of tremendous support from local and state officials, as well as a lot of hard work by our Associates and contractors assigned to the project,” said SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday. “This project is vital to SIA’s growth, and will result in further growth in our local and state economies.” End
