By: Boyd Corporation The company’s flagship aerospace product, SOLIMIDE® foam, was developed with U.S. government agency, NASA, to provide fire resistance and lightweight insulation for the Apollo spacecraft and is now widely used in private, commercial, and military aircraft. In addition to fire resistance and lightweight qualities, the insulating foam is non-toxic, heat and pressure formable, flexible and stable even at cryogenic temperatures, emits very little smoke when exposed to flame, has low off-gassing with no formaldehyde, outstanding thermal and acoustic qualities, hydrolytic stability, and does not support microbial growth. Lastly, unlike fiberglass products, the foam does not emit particles into the air. The result of the advanced insulation technology is passenger safety, fuel efficiency, aircraft availability, acoustic comfort and easy installation and maintenance. Boyd Corporation staff will also be available to discuss the product’s total cost of ownership in comparison to market alternatives. “SOLIMIDE® In addition to the Aircraft Interiors Expo event demonstration and discussion, Boyd Corporation will host a webinar entitled “Comparing & Discussing Aerospace Insulation Solutions,” on Wednesday, April 13th at 11:00 a.m., PST. To learn more about the webinar or to register for the event, please visit boydcorp.com. Boyd Corporation offers many additional highly-engineered, specialty material-based solutions for aircraft aerostructures, environmental systems, interiors, avionics equipment and in-flight entertainment systems. The company acquired the SOLIMIDE® Foams business from Evonik Industries in July 2014 and has recently filed a patent for densified SOLIMIDE® foam. End
