The Naples Players To Present "A Sleeping Country"

NAPLES, Fla. - March 2, 2016 - PRLog -- The Naples Players (http://www.naplesplayers.org) will present A Sleeping Country (http://naplesplayers.org/show10.html), written by American playwright Melanie Marnich (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanie_Marnich), from March 23-April 16, in the Tobye Studio at Sugden Community Theatre in downtown Naples. The production will be directed by TNP Assistant to the Artistic Director, Jessica Walck, who directed last season’s TNP production of Love, Loss and What I Wore and recently starred in Other Desert Cities.

         Julia Fracassi finds herself plagued with chronic insomnia. When it is revealed that it could be a very rare and even fatal prognosis she travels to Venice, Italy for answers from a family that suffers from the same debilitating disease. What she learns on her journey awakens her to more than she ever expected to discover. This is a clever and thoughtful comedy that begs the question, are we sleeping through life, or are we truly awake?

Cheyenne De Barros stars as Julia Fracassi, a New York City woman ridden with what seems to be the world’s worst case of insomnia. De Barros is a newcomer to the TNP stage. Her last performance was at Marshall University in West Virginia where she starred as Olga in The Three Sisters.

Bonnie Knapp performs as the fabulous, but insomnia plagued, Isabella Orsini. Knapp last starred in Noises Off as Dottie Otleywith TNP and also as sharp-tongued Margie in the theatre’s 2014 production of Good People.

Taking on the roles of Julia’s fiancé Greg, Isabella’s butler Franco, and Isabella’s spirited son Carlo is Ty Landers. Landers returns to the TNP stage after playing the antsy TV weatherman, Howard, in their hilarious production of Moon Over Buffalo. Portraying  the roles of the Dr. Midge, the prescription popping best friend and psychiatrist of Julia, Isabella’s daughter Carlotta, and the play’s Gondolier, is Alyssa Lee. Lee was last seen on the TNP stage as ditsy Margot in Legally Blonde the Musical, the beautiful actress Eileen in Moon Over Buffalo, and as Pickles in The Naples Players production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
