Bastian Solutions Efficiently Handles Heavy Tires in Manufacturing Process

March 3, 2016 - PRLog -- Robert Humphry, Bastian Solutions Applications Engineer, recently discussed various types of singulators, a mechanical device used in a conveyor system to provide product accumulation and singulation.  Singulators handle everything from boxes to specialty products, or circular/cylindrical items, such as handling heavy tires during the manufacturing process.

This device is typically mounted onto the conveyor frame and holds upstream product to provide accumulation. A downstream process will signal the release of the accumulated product at distinct time or distance intervals. This ensures product is properly spaced for handling later in the manufacturing or distribution process.

The Bastian Solutions’ singulator was specifically designed for use by an automotive manufacturer on the company’s tire processing line. The tires each weigh around 60 lbs. and approximately 22” in diameter. The tires are conveyed on heavy duty live rollers, providing an economical and robust method of transport.
