FEATHERSTONE, U.K. - March 2, 2016 - PRLog -- Tarmac, the UK’s leading sustainable building materials group, contracts Route One Highways to improve safety at an East Midlands accident blackspot.

Using an environmentally sound process that produces little waste, Route One deployed their Mechanical Retexturing team to the A6003 carriageway at Sounding Bridge in Rutland to renew the anti-skid properties of the carriageway.

Working across a 2100m2 area the carriageway surface was cleaned and retextured using a high velocity blasting process. Texture depth and surface materials were successfully restored, improving both micro and macro texture, as part of the aims of lowering skid related incidents.

Darryl Taylor, Commercial Manager at Route One Highways says: “Over time highways can lose their texture and become compromised surfaces. Rather than resurfacing this carriageway, which is costly and disruptive, in just three hours we extended the working life of this busy trunk road via a process that is environmentally friendly and proven to improve skid resistance.”

Route One Highways is a privately held company based in Featherstone, West Yorkshire and provides quality structures and highway maintenance services across the UK.
