Fine Artist, Jay Alexander, selected by Sundance Cinemas via StudioVox for Gallery Exhibition

SEATTLE - March 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Fine Art Painter, Jay Alexander was selected by Sundance Cinemas Gallery of Robert Redford's Sundance Group for an exclusive exhibition at their Sundance Cinema Gallery in Seattle, WA.  The artist’s work was chosen from a group of local artists who submitted their work for consideration to Sundance via an exclusive partnership with StudioVox.

Alexander’s exhibition entitled, “Becoming Unstuck” runs from January through April 2016 and visually explores his evolution from rigid, linear designs to loose shapes. The paintings are a collection of two different themes. Five of the works are geometric with linear elements. In contrast, with three other more organic loosely arranged shapes. His current style has evolved more toward the latter.

Alexander began painting in 2002. Primarily self-taught, he became interested in seascapes and city scenes in 2006 when he moved from the midwest to the outskirts of NYC. More recently, he has been more interested in the exploration of the abstract expression of urban subjects and geometric designs.

He enjoys the creative process of abstract painting and the role that serendipity plays when an ordinary brush stroke becomes the core of a piece. While the abstract expression of urban and natural subjects interest him, his body of work includes a contrast and exploration between geometric designs and more organic fluid forms.

He hopes his work is accessible enough for people who don't ordinarily appreciate abstract art.

His completely original use of color and light are so amazing in their complexity. We are so fortunate to have his work on view at the Sundance Seattle.”
