TFNB Your Bank for Life Pledges Founding Gift of $50K to New MISD Education Foundation

WACO, Texas - Feb. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- McGregor ISD today announced a $50,000 commitment from TFNB Your Bank for Life to the newly established McGregor ISD Education Foundation. The bank’s contribution marks the founding donation to the organization.

“We are honored to help establish the McGregor ISD Education Foundation," said David Littlewood, president of TFNB Your Bank for Life.   "In reflecting on the tragic loss of Rhett Hering, it became clear that the time is now to launch the education foundation.  The foundation will serve as a permanent way to memorialize the life of an outstanding young man whose spirit exemplifies love and lifts up others, still today.  It will also serve to honor the Hering family for their selfless contributions to the school district and our community."

Littlewood also believes the foundation is a way to recognize and support years of hard work by administrators and faculty that have worked together to create one of the best performing and forward-thinking school districts in Central Texas.  Littlewood views the quality of the local public school system as the cornerstone of the future of McGregor.  He says the McGregor ISD Educational Foundation will create opportunities to reach so many students and faculty in positive ways outside of public funding that truly enhance and make a difference.

The McGregor ISD Education Foundation, which is an independent nonprofit organization, will provide additional resources to support and augment the education of all students in the McGregor Independent School District. The foundation will provide funds for enrichment areas not funded by tax dollars. These will include:

Innovative Teaching Grants to support the implementation of creative teaching initiatives that promote student achievement

High School Graduate Scholarships to support higher education

Student Enrichment Activities and Community Service Activities that specifically support character and personal development

Professional Development activities that support progressive continuing education among McGregor ISD teaching faculty

Funding for these programs will be supplemental and will not replace or alter the use of tax-based revenue. The foundation will be governed by a board of directors made up of community volunteers, and it will be funded by donations from individuals and corporations.
