Meet the New Executive Director of the Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation, Tim McClain

Timothy McClain has been named Executive Director of the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) Foundation in Greenville, S.C.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Feb. 26, 2016 - PRLog -- Timothy McClain has been named Executive Director of the Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) Foundation in Greenville, SC. In this role, Mr. McClain will manage the organization’s fundraising operations and will represent the Foundation throughout the state of South Carolina. The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, S.C., is the only public, non-profit residential high school in South Carolina, with free tuition and high academic standards. Mr. McClain comes to the GSA Foundation from Mars Hill University, where he served as the school’s Director of Development and Campaign Director. With over 16 years’ experience in fundraising and development for higher education, Mr. McClain will be responsible for increasing the Foundation’s revenues and endowment assets by expanding its reach to individual and corporate donors while strengthening ties to alumni and the communities served throughout the state.

“Now is a pivotal time to in the history of the of the Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation,” says Board Chair Kurt Schumacher. “With a new school president, Dr. Cedric Adderley, and a new executive director of our Foundation, Tim McClain, there is not a better time to reach out to current and potential supporters.” Shumacher continues, “We are so excited to help the Governor’s School offer exceptional opportunities to students and teachers from every county in South Carolina. Tim McClain has the depth of experience and the passion we need to take the Foundation to the next level.”

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from the Geneva College, Mr. McClain served 11 years in the United States Air Force. In subsequent positions at Asheville School, UNC Asheville, and Penn State University, Mr. McClain was responsible for development, marketing, fiscal oversight, and strategic planning. After 12 years working Asheville, North Carolina, he will relocate to Greenville.

Mr. McClain has served with the Council for the Support of Education, the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, and the North Carolina Planned Giving Council.

The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is a public residential high school located in Greenville, South Carolina, providing a unique arts and academic education to emerging artists from across the state. Young artists, usually in 11th or 12th grade, study creative writing, dance, drama, music, or visual arts during the academic year and rising 9th and 10th grade students attend summer programs in these areas, with summer dance programs open to rising 7th through 12th grade students. http://www.scgsah.org
