Photobooths London meets Shaka

If you’ve been partying any time in the last few months you would’ve probably had a shimmy to the club banger that is Walking with the Elephants or found yourself bopping along to the addictive hook of Say Nada featuring grime pioneer JME.

LONDON - Feb. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- If you’ve been partying any time in the last few months you would’ve probably had a shimmy to the club banger that is Walkings with the Elephants or found yourself bopping along to the addictive hook of Say Nada featuring grime pioneer JME released just a few weeks ago its already being herald as a sure fire hit on the radio and is set to push Notting Hill native Shakka, (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/03f67ecf-b6b5-4e45-91ff-44fcaebc1bf0)26 further into the mainstream. With collaborations with the likes of Wretch 32 under his belt, the MOBO nominated; soon-to-be superstar knows a thing or two about creating hits to have a good time to.

So we caught up with singer/ songwriter/producer Shakka to find out what he gets him in the mood for celebrating:

• What’s the best party you’ve ever been to?:

It has to be a party i went to  in Japan whilst on tour with Basement Jaxx. After we finished our gig we headed to a massive venue that had about 3 or 4 different rooms; and an outdoor area with a pool where a group of guys were playing this really soft, house music. The night was really warm, and the sky was a crazy shade of purple- It felt like Vice City without the violence!

I remember this one particular night because all night i was thinking “Yes!” This is the atmosphere  i want to create with my music & be around.” i think vibe is really important, alcohol isn’t always the reason why a night is memorable.

2. Which movie party do you wish you could have attend?:

House Party! Obviously! There were just so many embarrassingly true to life moments; everyone was a character and just so cool.

3. If you had to choose a party theme that sums up your personality, what would it be?:

Millionaire by Andre 3000- half 1950’s/ half afrocentric. its so relevant to me.

4. Who would be at your dream dinner party?:

Frank Ocean, Daft Punk, Tom Hardy, Danny Graft, Frisco, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Malcom X, Martin Luther King, Michael Jackson, Janelle Monae, my whole family.. and i’d say to everyone  “just forget about trying to save the world or  whatever you’re going through right now, lets just chill, eat & relax”.

5. What are the 3 tracks that are guaranteed to get you on the dance floor?:

I can think of a million! They’re all reggae, rap & classic dance songs though: Alright by Kendrick Lamar, 7/11 Beyonce, Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam, Driver Buju Banton, Sia Little Man. Au Seve, OG Bobby Johnson. I could go on forever.

6. Complete the following sentence:” A good party has to have….” :

A good DJ! It doesn’t matter if the event is full of  beautiful girls inside a beautiful venue, with the most amazing food; If the DJ is wack  the whole party is wack!

7. So you’re at a party & you’ve been dragged into the photo booth. What is your go-to pose?:

Faux confusion, or to point at the person i’m with & look confused.

8. What’s next for Shakka?:

I’m gearing up to put out my next EP, its called Lost Boys & i’m so so excited about it. I was at  Wireless Festival & Brownstock during the summer and now im gearing up for my own show in October. & Of course ill be touring with the Basement Jaxx. My aim is to just keep making amazing tracks for the rest of my life so watch this space, and if you haven’t checked out Walking with Elephants yet go & do it now!
