Follow on Google News | Bonita Springs Assistance Office Offers Free Tax PreperationBy: Bonita Springs Assistance Office (BONITA SPRINGS, FL) Tax season is in full swing, and the Bonita Springs Assistance Office (BSAO), in conjunction with United Way of Lee County, is offering free tax filing assistance this season to those with household incomes less than $60,000. BSAO will be hosting the United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program every Saturday, except March 12, through April 16 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Those eligible for the program receive tax return assistance from IRS- certified VITA volunteers. Candidates can also file their own returns for free online at www.myfreetaxes.com. VITA volunteers can also assist in determining if individuals are candidates for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which when claimed can earn low income households up to a $6,269 tax credit. Appointments for VITA’s free services can be made today at www.unitedwaylee.org. For questions, call United Way’s hotline at 211 or at 239-433-3900. For over 37 years the mission of Bonita Springs Assistance Office, a United Way partner agency, has been to provide temporary relief to local residents impacted by a financial or personal crisis. The goal is to foster independence and self-reliance through education and by bridging the financial needs of the recipients. In addition to a food choice pantry, BSAO provides money management classes and referrals to other social service organizations who may be better served in answering clients’ needs. They are located at 25300 Bernwood Drive, Suite 6, in Bonita Springs. End
