Trump Is Still Trumping the Competition

NEW ORLEANS - Feb. 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Following a decisive victory in New Hampshire, Donald Trump is poised for an easy win in South Carolina. In the Granite State, Trump won every single demographic: the wealthy, the working class, women, men, those with college and graduate school education, those without, etc. Now, according to Real Clear Politics’ composite polls for South Carolina, Trump currently carries a 20% lead over Ted Cruz. In national polls, also averaged by RCP, Trump sits 8% above Cruz, with Rubio just .7% behind the Texas senator. Rubio seems to be the latest rising star in the GOP race. While he has been a contender since the first debate, Rubio’s polling numbers have enjoyed a recent rise thanks to strong debating and an ever-slimming field. With Cruz and Rubio currently neck and neck for 2nd and 3rd, 4th is a long, long way off. Ben Carson, briefly the Republican front-runner, is now 4th pulling in just 7.3% of voters, and, his campaign’s tailspin is showing no signs of recovering. As primary season heats up, the once packed Republican field, originally 16 in number, is now down to eight candidates, and that number is expected to soon drop again. Carly Fiorina made waves last September as a strong female Republican voice, but now clings to just 2.7% of votes. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is just .3% higher. Neither candidate is likely to last much longer. Campaigns are tiring, expensive endeavors, and once defeat becomes clear, candidates bow and support the party. Barring scandal or an unprecedented come-back story, the GOP race is among Rubio, Cruz, and Trump, with The Donald still the unrelenting leader. On the other side of the race, Hillary holds a 13.7% lead over Sanders, but, the former First Lady lost to Bernie in Vermont, showing how, across party lines, voters are rejecting Washington politics in favor of anti-establishment leaders.
