Georgia Rotarians have thrown out two challenges.  The first is to the Harlem Ambassadors basketball team who are going to learn how we play old school basketball down South, and the second is to END POLIO NOW.

Since 1998, the Harlem Ambassadors have brought high-flying slam-dunks and hilarious comedy to charity basketball games.  This time they duel Georgia Rotarians. Regardless of who wins, polio loses.    And you may even be asked to participate too!  Willie Anderson, retired NBA Spurs Champion and Rotarian, declares “Our Roaring Rotarians are ready for a great event.” He adds, “We get tough when it comes down to changing the game and giving back to society both globally and locally.”  Anderson is one of several Rotarian NBA stars playing to end polio now.

This fun for the whole family event will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 6:30 PM at Riverwood High School - 5900 Raider Drive, NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30028.  Tickets are only $10, purchasable in advance at www.rotary6900.org/basketball .  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will match two for one all money raised by the event. It costs just a few dollars per vaccination per child, and the shot clock is counting down fast to eliminate this dreadful disease for good, so your money will go a long way. Rotary Governor Bob Hagan says, “Most people forget how polio used to ravage America and, until recently, it devastated the lives of hundreds of thousands each year around the globe. I recently saw the effects of Polio on a service trip to India, and even had the privilege of giving a vaccine to a young child. We’re so close to getting rid of this often fatal crippling disease forever.  The only other disease that’s ever been eliminated is smallpox.  Let’s make history and eradicate polio together. We are this close!”
