In Celebration of Black History Month, Author Releases The Black Girl's Guide to Living on Purpose

NEW ORLEANS - Feb. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- You are not an accident. Those powerful words are the dominant theme throughout first-time author, Brie Daniels’ book The Black Girl’s Guide to Living on Purpose and she’s determined to make sure those words sink in and leave an indelible impression on readers.

Divided into three sections, the book gives clear action steps young women can take in their spiritual, emotional, professional, physical and recreational lives to help discover their true purpose. The book is available for purchase on barnesandnoble.com as well as amazon.com in print & Kindle versions.

Daniels felt called to write this book after writing a magazine article on self-worth and self-esteem. She’s targeted the book to girls between the ages of 14 and 22.

“I feel like I wasted so much time during that period of my life worrying about what other people thought of me, and trying to find validation from those people,” the author said. “At that time, I suffered from thoughts of suicide and extremely low self-esteem. So I feel a personal responsibility to encourage young girls and let them know their lives have meaning no matter what they read and see on the news or the demeaning things some people think and verbalize about black lives on a daily basis.”

Daniels will be hosting a book launch party this Saturday, February 20 at 3 p.m. at NOLA Spaces, 1719 Toledano St. New Orleans, LA, 70115. For more information about the book, visit www.blackgirlswithpurpose.org.  To schedule an interview with the author, please call her directly at 504-535-5189.
