Bangkok 2016, Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel warmly welcomes Mr. Gael Lardiere as its new Executive Chef responsible for all its restaurants, bars and banqueting effective December 2015.

Executive Chef Lardiere is a 1974-vintage Leo. A prodigious talent, over 20 years of international experience in Michelin-star restaurants, 5-star hotels and on-board luxury liners have sculpted an exceptionally versatile and accomplished chef. Born and raised in northern France and married with two young children, his love of creating new dining experiences and exploring different cultural perspectives drives the passion that he brings to every new day and explains why he has had the opportunity to cook for leading figures in the Chinese and Cambodian governments along with world famous golfer Tiger Woods, among many other luminaries.

His plans for Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel’s, International, Thai, Japanese, Cantonese and French restaurants etc are simple and direct: to tightly grasp the reigns of each operation, fine tune the quality and innovate and modernise as appropriate to keep the hotel at the forefront of food and beverage experiences in Bangkok.

He joins Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel from Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin a “Leading Hotels of the World” member, where among other achievements he created and implemented some seven original menu rotations for the resort’s all-day dining restaurant.

Gael’s previous experience includes stints at the 5-star Belle Mare, Mauritius, where he re-engineered the entire training platform for 120 chefs. Also on his CV in descending order of employment are Sheraton Sharm El Sheikh Resort, Villas and Spa, Egypt; Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok; Le Méridien Sheshan Shanghai, China (the first Le Méridien in China which he helped to open); Victoria Angkor Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia (another opening brief); Marriott Courtyard Pudong, Shanghai, China (ditto), and; MVCI Marriott Beach Resort, Marbella, Spain.

When not tending his restaurant flock, Gael likes to pursue his photographic hobby while keeping on the cusp of culinary developments through his active La Chaine des Rôtisseurs membership.
