Follow on Google News | Newhaven Court at Clearview bone marrow registration drive set for Feb. 13Senior living community hopes to find match for staff member’s 15-year-old daughter
By: IntegraCare Beth Fleming is a Resident Care Assistant/Medication Assistant who has worked since August at Newhaven Court at Clearview in the memory care neighborhood. Her daughter, Chloe, 15, is battling bone marrow cancer. “We’re looking for a match,” said Gary Renwick, Executive Director of Newhaven Court at Clearview. “There is only an 11 percent chance of finding a true match for her. We are looking for a miracle.” Chloe is a freshman at the Butler Area High School. “We want to do everything we can to support our team members," Renwick said. "We truly look at our employees as an extension of our family, and we will support them in any way we can.” Renwick said the bone marrow registration process only takes a few minutes. “It’s as simple as coming in, registering, and if you meet the qualifications it’s a simple swab of the inside of the cheek,” he said. “That is it.” The support for Beth and Chloe Fleming has been extraordinary at Newhaven Court at Clearview and throughout the community, Renwick said. “We have employees that know they are not a match for various reasons,” Renwick said. “If you’ve suffered from cancer in the past or have had other types of diseases, it eliminates you. We had employees who knew they couldn’t participate, so instead they offered to donate money to this drive. They were that moved by Beth and Chloe’s story.” Newhaven Court at Clearview is located at 100 Newhaven Lane in Butler. End
