Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue Saving Dogs From Istanbul,Turkey

LOS ANGELES - Feb. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- Twenty Golden Retrievers will arrive at LAX on Valentine's Day as part of a joint rescue effort by two U.S. based Golden Retriever Rescue Groups. Southern California Golden Retreiver Rescue and Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies got involved in this effort when they were contacted by Adopt a Golden in Atlanta and were thrilled to help out this initiative to save Goldens!

The National Rescue Committee of the Golden Retriever Club of America supports the US based rescue efforts as there are no Golden Retrievers being put at risk in the U.S. because of this rescue. The Turkish Government and the shelter volunteer colleagues in Istanbul want a better life for these dogs and work with us to make this happen. "Absolutely no Golden Retrievers in the U.S. that need our assistance that we would ordinarily bring in to rescue will be turned away because of this project" stated Barbara Gale, the founder of Southern Calfiornia Golden Retriever Rescue.

At one time, Golden Retrievers were a status symbol in Istanbul,Turkey.  When the novelty wore off they were abandoned in the streets where many starve to death.  Some live in shelters, but there’s not enough room for all the dogs in shelters, so they live on the streets and in the forest often falling prey to feral dogs and cruel humans.

This Valentine's Day February 14, 2016, SCGRR will welcome 10 of these beautiful Golden's at LAX.  "We have a waiting list of wonderful people who want to adopt and love a Golden Retriever," said Gale.  "That is one of the many reasons that we are participating in this initiative to save these dogs.  There are very few rescue Golden Retrievers available in the US at this time."  SCGRR is hopeful that they can continue to save additional Goldens from Turkey by particpating in future rescue efforts this year.  "It is costly, but we will continue to fundraise to make sure to get these poor babies off the streets and out of the woods of Istanbul, and into loving US homes" stated Gale.
