By: StudioVox Hight’s exhibition entitled “Abstraction and Landscape” runs from Jan 20th through April 2016. Abstract linear influences play an integral role in his work which features an architecturally grounded labyrinth of color and shape that crisscross the surface of the canvas. Geometric layers of acrylic on canvas, some works span 6 ft. across, creating an immersive experience for the viewer. “I hope people uncover all the layering of form and texture that I put into every painting,” says Hight. “It takes almost a month to complete one painting.” A high school geometry class inspired Hight into studying technical drafting, the influence of which can still be seen in the linear design of his abstract paintings which some people have described as “architectural” Sundance Cinemas VP of Marketing and Gallery Curator, Nancy Gribler sees Hight’s work as an unfolding story. “Hight’s paintings, although graphical in nature, have a large dose of whimsy scattered throughout,” CEO StudioVox Amanda Slingerland agrees, “Hight’s paintings draw you in with a subtle intensity, and invoke a sense of curiosity as if holding a hidden truth within a framework, just below the surface. His work creates a fantastic exhibition at Sundance, Kabuki Gallery.” StudioVox, a Los Angeles-based online network for creative professionals, serves as the chosen submission and curation platform for artwork to be exhibited at Sundance Cinemas' fine art galleries in West Hollywood, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston and Madison, Wis.
