He was the developer of Mako’s strategic plan and the chief architect behind the development and launch of Mako’s second robotic application that addressed hip replacement surgery. Mr. Clement previously spent ten years at Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics and six years at Wright Medical Technology (now Microport) in various sales and marketing roles both domestically and internationally.
“LineGard Med has developed and patented a simple and effective device that is going to help eliminate one of the most common adverse events that patients experience in a hospital, IV line pull-out or dislodgement. I believe the SafeBreak IV is going to save nurses time, hospitals money and improve delivery of healthcare to patients,” Clement said. Spencer Jones, the founder and CEO of LineGard Med, added, “Vance brings years of successful sales, marketing and start-up experience to our organization. I know that his relationships and skill set will allow us to bring our first product to market successfully and ensure that we develop a foundation for future growth.”
Mr. Mykleby comes to LineGard Med from the Memphis Bioworks Foundation, where he was a Program Specialist in the ZeroTo510 Medical Device Accelerator. ZeroTo510 specializes in the launch of medical device companies, and Mykleby assisted 8 medical device start-ups with their product development and market validation needs. He began his career as a product design engineer at Altec, a manufacturer of custom utility trucks. Mr. Mykleby earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
“Studies show that patients accidently dislodge or pull out their IVs approximately 7% of the time. I believe that the SafeBreak will significantly reduce how often IV pull-out occurs. I look forward to perfecting the product’s design, quality and manufacturing,”
ABOUT LINEGARD MED
LineGard Med is the developer of a unique patented break-away technology that works with all types of medical tubing. The break-away feature helps prevent the dislodgement or pull-out of feeding tubes, IV lines, urinary catheters and any other type of medical tubing by breaking into two pieces and protecting the patient’s tube/catheter insertion site. The company’s first product, SafeBreak IV fits into any standard IV tubing and will help prevent IV pull-outs, which occur millions of times a year in the United States.
