SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Feb. 2, 2016 - PRLog -- In the fall of 2011, filmmaker Victoria Kereszi had no idea that a short commercial assignment would turn into more than a 120 hours of filming and the most inspiring challenge of her career. Now, more than 4 years later, she and her team of mostly volunteers are wrapping production of the documentary Into Loving Hands which follows one upstate New York family on a deeply personal journey of raising a special needs child, and are crowdfunding the finances to do so.

“We have immense support to get this film finished,” Kereszi said, “It’s such an incredible story, and everyone that hears it is instantly moved, especially parents who have been touched by the unexpected isolation of parenting a child with rare disorders and special needs. It speaks to some of the strongest human emotions around the love for a child, and I think that’s why it resonates.”

In 2011, Chris and Rebecca Williams were thrilled to discover they were expecting a second child, but halfway through their pregnancy, prenatal testing indicated that something was terribly – fatally - wrong. The couple, staunchly pro-choice, was subsequently faced with momentous decisions as they navigated both the medical community and society.

In an exceptional study of the intense spectrum of human emotion, Into Loving Hands sets out to shed light on the journey faced by families welcoming a child with special needs and the very human side of the healthcare system they become so deeply involved with, reminding us all the while just how valuable empathy is in today’s day and age.

“What I thought was our worst nightmare turned out to be the best gift of our life,” says Williams, “It wasn’t until I accepted our son’s situation that I was able to find some solace. I want this film to be that solace, that lifeline for another mother or father who believes they have been handed their own worst nightmare. They don’t have to be alone.”

The Williams’ daunting journey has already touched many lives as Rebecca has become an active advocate, but now their story is ready to be shared with the world. Or, almost ready. On February 14th, Kereszi and her team will kick off a 30-day Indiegogo campaign to crowdfund their way toward final production. They will raise push to raise $28,500, culminating on Valentine’s Day and preparing the stage for a late summer film premiere. The campaign offers a range of perks, from donor names in the film credits to an experience with the filmmaker and Williams’ family.
