Follow on Google News | Water Conservation Delivers 43,000,000 Gallons In Savings For Arizona CommunityArizona Community turned to water conservation, but not because they are turning "green" but because they want to stay out of the "red".
Many communities are looking for ways to keep afloat and conserve limited funds. It is literally time to sink or swim. Water is now one of the biggest expenses for a community and if it can be cut could provide substantial savings and a positive environmental impact. But managing water can be very difficult – until now. Sun City Grand, a community in Surprise, AZ was paying over $700,000 a year for irrigation water. It was difficult for them to control that cost because their irrigation system was over 17 years old and in need of updating. According to their General Manager, Ken Olson, in August 2014, they hired Aqua Trac to conduct an in-depth irrigation audit of their 300+ acres common area landscaping. That audit included a comprehensive water management plan and recommendations to improve the efficiency of their irrigation system. Because of the combined efforts of Aqua Trac and Gothic Grounds Management - last year the community saved 43,000,000 gallons of water. That’s enough water to fill 4,300 swimming pools or sustain 1,200 homes for one year. Mr. Olson said that savings reduced their water cost by $200,000.00. Jim Kauth is the president of Aqua Trac Corp. and the inventor of the Aqua Trac System that provided those savings for Sun City Grand and other communities in the Arizona. He said Sun City Grand’s success was because of the motivation provided by the board of directors; the great efforts of Gothic Grounds Management; and the employment of new technology in the field.
