Constitution Day – Originally this national holiday floated on the first Monday of February, but in 2006 it was changed to February 1^st. Following the Mexican Revolution, this day commemorates the constitution of 1917 that was put into place by Venustiano Carranza. Grand parades, music concerts, and other festivals are arranged on this day across the country.

Candlemas – This religious holiday marks the end of the Christmas season in the church calendar and is celebrated on February 2^nd. It is common to see people bringing figures of the Christ Child to church to be blessed. Mostly a religious and family celebration throughout the world, Mexico also includes bull running and festivals.

Carnival – This week leading up to Ash Wednesday is celebrated throughout the world with revelry and parties. Mexican cities are no exception as they prepare great celebrations from Feb 3^rd to Feb 9^th. Events include the Burning of Bad Mood and the crowning of the King and Queen of Carnival. Consider a day trip to Mazatlán or Veracruz for some of the biggest Carnival celebrations in the country.

Valentine’s Day – Friendship and love are celebrated throughout the world on February 14^th and Mexico is no exception. Some romantic things to do while in Mexico on this holiday are to enjoy a serenade, walk hand in hand, get a couples spa treatment, see the sunset, and have dinner by candlelight. Holy Week – Following Carnival and the Lenten season, Holy Week festivities begin. Easter is early this year, falling on March 27^th, and the week prior is full of religious processions and passion plays and a holiday. Frequently Mexicans take this week and the following week off to enjoy time as a family and hit the beach, which coincides with Spring Break for most Mexican schools. This is usually the hottest and driest time of the year, which makes any place with water a huge attraction.
