The Lice Lounge Hair Care Center in Downtown White Bear Lake is taking care of those pesky Pediculus Capitus once and for all. They are also providing a relaxing environment, caring support, and an eye-opening education that proves to be priceless.

 “I had no idea what I was even looking for, they walked me through the treatment process while sharing more information than I ever wanted to know about lice” says one Mahtomedi mom.  “I left feeling not only relieved but well informed!”

In addition to treating head lice, The Lice Lounge is committed to reducing the stigma often associated with lice. “Just talking about the basic facts helps parents to relax and realize it isn’t quite the big deal they initially thought it was.”

The Lice Lounge has also pledged to work closely with schools. They have designed a Give Back program where 10% of the treatment cost for each child treated goes back into a bank for their school. They keep in touch with the school nurses and health aids; if the nurse feels that a particular family is struggling with lice and doesn’t have the means to pay for treatment, The Lice Lounge will treat that family with the banked money.

“There is so much incorrect information readily available. With one simple internet search, families are quickly inundated with scare tactics from cleaning your entire house, to home remedies, and over the counter products - some even potentially harmful.” says Jessica Fleming, co-owner of The Lice Lounge.

“We want our families to be armed with the most up-to-date and accurate information available, it is vital to keeping them lice-free. We also want them to feel relaxed and comfortable, assured they have come to the right place.”

“The truth is, if you can afford to treat your child and I can afford to treat my child, but the child that sits between ours cannot afford treatment, then the cycle of head lice will continue and we will be no better off. Our mission is to help all of the children in our community, every family deserves the same opportunity to be treated safely and effectively, without harmful chemicals.”

The Lice Lounge Hair Care Center does not use any harsh chemicals or pesticides in their treatments due to safety concerns and the mounting evidence that head lice are becoming increasingly resistant to them. The chemical pyrethrin, a neurotoxin, is used in most of the over-the-counter lice treatment products. Common symptoms of neurotoxicity include: fatigue, pain, depression, memory loss, lung & sinus problems to name a few.

“We see absolutely no reason to use such a potentially harmful product on any child’s scalp, which is far more absorbent than an adult’s scalp. Many families have come in to see us after these products have failed them.”
