BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - Jan. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- West Michigan Honda Dealers is proud to announce that the 2016 Honda Civic has been granted the 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance and accident prevention features.

In order to achieve such a high safety award, the Civic had to earn top scores in all five IIHS crash safety tests — moderate overlap front collision, small overlap front collision, side impact, roof strength, and head restraint tests — as well as earn an “advanced” or “superior” rating in frontal crash prevention.

Each trim level of the Civic can be had with the Honda Sensing features that helped the vehicle earn a “superior” score in frontal crash prevention, which include:

● Collision Mitigation Braking
● Adaptive Cruise Control
● Forward Collision Warning
● Lane Keeping Assist
● Lane Departure Warning
● Road Departure Mitigation.

Jeff Conrad, the general manager and senior VP of Honda Division, described the safe new approach to the Civic, saying, "As these new safety ratings demonstrate, the 2016 Civic Sedan not only brings new value to the compact segment with its hefty upgrades to fun-to-drive performance, fuel efficiency, refinement and technology, it also delivers advanced collision safety performance."

"With its available Honda Sensing technologies, including our first application of Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, the new Civic Sedan offers customers a suite of technologies unlike anything else in the class," Conrad added.

Combine these advanced features with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure that ensures the Civic crumples in the right places to direct crash energy away from passengers, and it's clear why the IIHS found it deserving of such a distinction.
