BOCA RATON, Fla. - Jan. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- DocMiami Film Festival, in partnership with the Willow Theatre, will present a special screening of "Inside The Perfect Circle: The Odyssey of Joel Thome," a music documentary about world-traveled composer and conductor Joel Thome. Produced and directed by Chris Pepino, "Inside The Perfect Circle" provides a close, personal look at Thome's career and philosophy. He collaborated extensively with Frank Zappa, arranging the eccentric rock icon's elaborate music for symphony orchestra and rock band. He was awarded a Grammy for his work with Zappa and guitarist Steve Vai, and also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Thome composed the music to Pablo Picasso's only play and completed many other projects thereby furthering modern music. After suffering a debilitating stroke in 1998, Joel lost the use of his left arm and was forced to undergo years of recovery. Using music as a resource for healing, he was able to resume composing and returned to the stage to perform his graphically notated mandala scores. The performance was featured at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City in September of 2009.

Special guest film introduction by Global Ambassador for Unite to End Violence, public servant and innovator,  Bettina Rodriguez-Aguilera followed by a Q & A Session with Maestro Joel Thome after the film. Joel Thome is an internationally acclaimed composer/conductor of classical and contemporary orchestral music. He received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental for "Zappa's Universe" and a Pulitzer Prize nomination for "Savitri Traveller of the Worlds." Mr. Thome has appeared as conductor with Group L'itineraire in Paris, the Brooklyn Philharmonic,The Seattle Symphony, The Tel-Aviv Chamber Orchestra, The Opera Company of Boston and the Milwaukee Symphony, among many others. His compositions are recorded on Nonesuch, Vox, World Sound, and Polygram/Verve.
