YSU Student Athlete is a Star on Field and in Workplace

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Jan. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Andre Stubbs started his football career at a young age. He was an All-Star State Champion his senior year of high school. Now in his senior year at Youngstown State University, Stubbs has been a starting receiver for YSU Football for all 4 years, and was awarded the top Conference Kick Returner in 2013. Along with his successes on the football field, Stubbs is also a champion in the classroom.

         To expand his communication skills, Stubbs chose to major in communication and minor in marketing. His main objective for cultivating these communication and business skills was to connect with people. Stubbs wants to use the skills he learned at YSU to reach out to people from all walks of life.

         “I was looking for an internship to gain experience and I talked to my mentor, Dr. Adam Earnheardt,” Stubbs said. “He recommended Launch Local, Inc.as he had past students that completed internships there and gained hands on experiences.”

Stubbs began his internship at Launch Local, Inc. in the spring semester, 2016. He explains that he has already gained a great deal of experience professionally as well as personally. “I’m already learning better personal skills. I’m learning to communicate with different types of people on a professional level. I can find solutions and help people find use for sports tickets as well as properly execute promotions.”

Stubbs has been gaining extensive experiences for a bright future in his field. “When I came to Launch Local, Inc. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and by the second day I could already see my communication skills improving. I was learning to communicate with all different types of people.”

         One unique experience Launch Local Inc. provides its interns is to “Work Hard, Play Hard”.

         “I obviously love that I get to take home money daily, but my favorite part of the internship are the team nights at the office,” Stubbs said. Last weekend we went snow-tubing as an office. Not a lot of companies do that. That’s appreciated.” Another thing that Stubbs raves about is “you can see yourself in ways, and can see yourself growing into your own. Other places you work the same position for a long time, but at Launch Local Inc, you can see the growing and moving up and it’s reachable”.

         Stubbs is continuing his internship with Launch Local, Inc. until graduation to gain real world experience. If he had to give advice to any interns looking into Launch Local, Inc. for an internship it would be to “get excited, be enthusiastic. Have a positive attitude, and have fun. That’s 75% of the position”.
