January 26, 2016 (Midland, MI) – Architecture, engineering and planning consulting firm OHM Advisors has announced February plans to relocate its office in Mount Pleasant to a former retail space in downtown Midland.

At 3,000 sf, the newly-renovated space at 415 West Main Street will provide OHM Advisors with room to expand and offer more local services to its community clients. According to OHM Advisors Central Michigan Office Managing Partner Craig Schripsema, the firm plans to hire additional engineering staff within the year, and has the more long-term goal of bringing urban design and architecture professionals to the Mid-Michigan area.

“Our mission is the advancement of communities, and we feel it’s going to be important to offer our full breadth of services from this location moving forward,” he says.

Schripsema says that Midland’s developing Main Street District was a big draw when looking for office space. He credits the mixed-use buildings across from Dow Diamond in the East End District, as well as the long-term investment plans for all of downtown for initially peaking the firm’s interest in the community.

“As we grow and bring on new talent, many of our offices are moving toward an open, creative concept in a thriving downtown setting” he says. “We hoped to create something like that for our office as well. We think we can have that here in Midland.”

Schripsema says that he is eager for the progress in downtown Midland, praising the collaborative efforts being led by Momentum Midland to revitalize downtown Midland.

“There’s so much energy in this area right now,” he says. “When it was time to start looking for new space, we absolutely wanted to be in the heart of that – in a community so clearly dedicated to investing in its future.”

OHM Advisors will maintain its presence in Mount Pleasant, opening a field office in a new, larger location on Corporate Drive. The new location will provide design services, expanded materials testing, and construction engineering. The firm, headquartered in Livonia, also has Michigan offices in Saginaw, Flint, and Hancock.
