A platform to facilitate vehicle owners to get serviced by garages & mechanics around them
Stepni is an online platform that connects vehicle owners with service providers like mechanics, garages, car accessory outlets etc. around them. It is a platform intended to help make the process of car & bike maintenance more efficient thereby reducing cost for the consumer and at the same time raise the earning potential of mechanics & garages.
Stepni was founded by Vinay Singh & Nikhil Nair in Oct 2015. The company is based out of Bangalore, Karnataka and is registered as Fluid Organization Auto Tech Pvt Ltd.
Vinay Singh (alumnus IIM-B) worked in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. in various sales & marketing roles before quitting to head marketing at BankBazaar.com. He has done Sales, Marketing, Operations & managed and built large teams in his previous roles
Nikhil Nair (alumnus IIM-A) ran product, digital marketing and data warehousing for multiple clients in previous roles, was an expert in data based decision making. He worked in Mindtree Consulting, Havas Media & Ocwen before joining BankBazaar to head Digital Marketing. Stepni currently uses its indigenous mechanic/ driver workforce to connect car owners with garages and mechanics, thereby minimizing dependence on already burdened Garage systems. In the future by leveraging technology, Stepni aims to connect the garages and consumers directly in order to create a low-touch experience for both the consumer and the garage.
Stepni has developed a proprietary price prediction tool that helps consumers get a quote for their vehicle care needs right from the comfort of their homes at the touch of a button without the hassle of having to haggle with Mechanics & Technicians.
Stepni is also working on integrating individual car OBD-2 data with the service eco-system. This will help the platform scale by removing information assymetry which is the lead cause of vehicle servicing being a pain for consumers. This will also help deliver services such as driving assistance, predictive diagnostics, preventive maintenance push notifications for the consumer. On the partner side- it will make partners (read: mechanics) more efficient by delivering a diagnositc dashboard, issue diagnosis & customised job sheets. Hence, giving more income to the partner since he will spend more time fixing the issue rather than diagnosing it.
Stepni has partnered with 125 garages in Bangalore to offer services to consumers so that the consumer never has to look beyond their neighborhood 5Km radius
