Cape Cod International Film Festival Prize Winner Nominated for Academy Award

YARMOUTH PORT, Mass. - Jan. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Orleans, MA USA, January 18th, 2016  – The winner of Best Animated Short Film at the 2015 Cape Cod International Film Festival is now nominated for an Academy Award.  “We Can’t Live Without Cosmos,” directed by Konstantin Bronzit of Russia was chosen from a pool of 330 films, and screened at the Main Street Wine and Gourmet loft in October, 2015.  On Thursday, January 14th, it was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards.

The fifteen-minute film tells the story of two friends vying for a spot on a rocket heading on a space mission, and how they deal with the ultimate decision.

“We knew we had a top-notch selection of films to share with our audience, “ says CCIFF Artistic Director, Phil Rectra.  “But having one of those films recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences means a great deal.  It means we’re doing our job well.”

The Cape Cod International Film Festival (https://filmfreeway.com/festival/CapeCodInternationalFilm...)is an annual competition featuring the best films in any given year, selected from a pool submitted via FilmFreeway and Withoutabox (https://www.withoutabox.com/03film/03t_fin/03t_fin_fest_0...) by filmmakers from around the world.  The event takes place in early October at the Chatham Orpheum Theater (Chatham, MA USA) and Main Street Wine and Gourmet (Orleans, MA USA) screening loft.

The 88th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2015 and will take place on February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, CA at 8:30 p.m. EST.
