ST. LOUIS - Jan. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Q: Are Your New Year's Resolutions Not Going So Well?

Creative Activist Says 'Failure' Is Simply Feedback

Topic Summary

Failing at your New Year's resolutions is so common that it's a cliché, as comedian John Oliver relates (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2016/01/04/john-oliver-last-week-tonight-new-years-resolutions/78254298/).

"I wouldn't be surprised if there were some significant percentage of people who simply do not make resolutions because they are so certain in their failure, and that's a shame," says creative activist Rae Luskin – a social advocate, founder of Art and Soul Connections and The Winning Adventure (thewinningadventure.com).

"The afraid-to-fail mindset is one that's trapped in paralysis – I know because I've suffered it. However, I realized that true failure comes from not trying. If you fail by trying, do not consider it 'failure.' Instead, remember that failure is just feedback." - Rae Luskin

Luskin is author of "The Creative Activist: Make the World Better, One Person, One Action at a Time," a book with 36 stories from creative activists, who have made the world a better place in response to hardship – both their own and that of others.

"Failure is hardship – it's how you respond to it that's important," says Luskin, who speaks from experience. As a child, she was sexually abused and suffered long-term emotional and social consequences such as fear of intimacy, eating disorders and depression.

She discusses the "failure is just feedback" mentality and how it can help with your New Year's resolutions.
