GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jan. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- – Metro Health and the Brain Injury Association of Michigan have teamed up for a special Q&A session on concussions and high school sports prior to a free screening of the film “Concussion,” which stars Will Smith.

The event will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at Celebration Cinema North located at 2121 Celebration Drive NE in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“In an era of highly competitive high school sports, concussions can have a lasting impact on the health of young athletes,” Dr. Ed Kornoelje of Metro Health Sports Medicine said. “It’s important for parents, students and coaches to be well informed. We’re excited to team up with the Brain Injury Association and offer participants the opportunity to talk with local experts about prevention, risks and more.”

Registration is required and seating is limited. Tickets are available and can be reserved at www.metrohealth.net/concussionevent/. Those who reserve a ticket will be able to retrieve them at the door.

“Concussion” is a dramatic thriller based on the true story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player.

The event is presented by Metro Health Sports Medicine, the Brain Injury Association of Michigan and The Huge Show.
